Dutch Golf

We welcome you at 'The Dutch Station' to play a round of 'Dutch Golf'©

Come to Hawarden and 'slog the clog'

‘The Dutch Station’ is the only place in the Southern Hemisphere where you can play ‘Dutch Golf’©.

The first question people always ask us: what is ‘Dutch Golf’©?

To answer that question, we invite you to experience it yourself. We expect it won't be long before Kiwi's and overseas visitors will be able to answer this question from their own experience or through articles in the paper.

‘Dutch golf’© is a mixture of ‘normal’ golf and croquet.

In short:
It is DUTCH and it is DIFFERENT and most of all it is FUN (but you can play it in competitive form too).

Now you still do not know what it is.

‘Dutch Golf’© originates from the Netherlands, where a farmer wanted to play golf on a golf course. That is not just as easy as here in New Zealand, because you have to be a member of the golf club and even have to pass a theoretical exam to prove you know the rules. Only then you are allowed on a course (under supervision of a pro) and have to do a practical exam, before you are allowed to play on your own.

Anyway, this farmer was rejected by the golf club and on his way back home he thought: “I can play golf in my own paddock as well”. And so he did!

Conclusion: ‘Dutch Golf’© is played on a paddock. But there is more of course. A ‘Dutch Golf’© course exists of 10-16 holes with a length varying between 50 meter and 250 meter. That is the part in which it resembles ‘normal’ golf.

‘Dutch Golf’© also resembles croquet, as you use one single special club. Hire of club and ball is included in the admission price. ‘Dutch Golf’© is suitable for every one from 8 to 80

‘Dutch Golf’© can be played in a group, or as an individual. It is free for guests of Countrystay ‘The Dutch Station’.
